Federal probation officers interviewed Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, a California filmmaker responsible for creating an anti-Islam film that sparked protests in more than 30 countries, late last night.
The man, who served 21 months in prison on fraud and identity theft charges, could face more prison time if it is determined his involvment in the film was a violation of his probation, which barred him from either owning or using devices with access to the Web without prior approval from hisprobation officer.
Nakoula left his Cerritos home with his head wrapped in a towel and wearing a hat, apparently trying to hide his appearance. But he was not under arrest and went to the police station willingly during the overnight shift, Los Angeles County Deputy Sherriff Kim Manatt told ABCNews.com.
The Sherriff's Department provided transportation, but was not involved in questioning Nakoula, Manatt said.
The movie, "The Innocence of Muslims," the prophet Mohammed, portraying him as a buffoon, womanizer and child-molester.
Nakoula is the identity of Sam Bacile, an alias he used to claim credit for writing and directing the film, the ABC News Investigative Unit reported this week.
Nakoula denied this and said he worked on logistics for the film, but an anonymous official told The Associated Press that the two are one and the same.
Nakoula was charged with bank fraud and aggravated identity theft in 2009. According to the criminal complaint, his other aliases included Mark Basseley Youssef, Thomas Tanas, Ahmad Hamdy, Erwin Salameh, and Nicola Bacily. He had credit cards, social security cards, passports, leases and driver's licenses to match.
As a result of the felony proceedings, Nakoula was sentenced to 21 months in prison, ordered to pay $794,700.57 and was placed under supervised release for five years following his release. Bureau of Prison records indicate that he was released in June 2011.
Before "Sam Bacile" was identified as Nakoula, he told the AP, in an interview in which he used the pseudonym: "Islam is a cancer, period."
ABCNews.com reported on the mismatching claims surrounding "Bacile" earlier this week. Although he claimed to be a Jewish Israeli, other reports called him an Arab Christian U.S. citizen.
There is no record for a "Sam Bacile" in ABC's research databases.
As "Bacile," he also told reporters from different publications that he was different ages. He told the AP he was 56 and the Wall Street Journal that he was 52. His YouTube profile lists him as 75.
Nakoula said he is "scared to death" for his family, though most threats have been directed at him, the ABC News Investigative Unit reported.
Protesters in foreign nations have blamed the United States for the film, prompting hundreds of them to storm U.S. embassies around the world. They've also to set fire to American flags as well as a Christian School in Niger and a KFC in Lebanon, which are considered symbols of the United States.
Two are dead in Tunisia as a result of the protests. Although Egyptian police report that they've restored calm after clashing with protesters, at least six people were killed earlier in the week, according to the AP.
President Obama spoke at a ceremony this week to pay tribute to four Americans who were killed Tuesday when militants stormed the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya. The dead there include U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens.

Tips to Save on Car Insurance

Check out these five ways you can take control of what you pay for auto insurance.

Certain things in life are out of your hands: aging, the job market, the weather.
The good news is that your auto insurance rate doesn't have to be one of them.
In fact, there are several ways you can gain more control of your auto insurance rate and potentially lower your costs.
Check out these five ways you can take the wheel on your car insurance rates

Choosing the right company to insure your vehicle can take a bit of patience, but it may also help lower your rate.
According to the North Dakota Insurance Department's February 2011 cost comparison study, each "good" hypothetical driver was given 18 monthly quotes from 18 different companies. Rates varied by as much as $604, proving that shopping around may yield significantly different rates.
On the other end of the spectrum, one "high risk" driver was given quotes from 16 insurers, which varied by as much as $1,451.
So regardless of your driving history, don't assume you're locked into your current rate. Each company is different, and each quote will likely vary as well.
Overall, knowing your options and taking the time to find them could provide you with significant savings.

#2 - Keep a Clean Driving Record

"Being accident-free and having no serious traffic violations on your record tops the list of things you can do to lower the cost of insurance," says Lynne McChristian, Florida representative for the Insurance Information Institute (III), an organization dedicated to the enhancement of public understanding of insurance.
The better you are behind the wheel, the better chance you'll have more - and cheaper - options when comparing quotes from insurance companies. A quote is the monthly rate that a company would make you pay if you were to choose them as your insurer.
For example, the North Dakota Insurance Department's cost comparison study created hypothetical drivers with different driving records, and then had state insurance companies provide sample quotes for each driver.
Three "good" drivers were covered by most low-cost insurers, while the two "high-risk" drivers both received significantly higher overall quotes.

Beware of value-killing renovations

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
That old adage should be a warning for homeowners. What you do to a home — in terms of renovations, furnishings and additions — is all well and good while you sleep under its roof. But if you plan to sell, your efforts could diminish rather than boost its selling price.
A miniature backyard skate park, indoor basketball court or basement lounge complete with a stripper pole and smoke machine are the sorts of extravagances that may not directly push down your home value but could drive away prospective buyers or provide room for them to haggle down the price.
Potential headaches
A bright pink paint job and lawn cluttered with gnomes and flamingos is going to offer little in the way of curb appeal. That koi pond you love so much may be just a headache for a new owner.

"Swimming pools and landscaping can both backfire," says Brendon DeSimone, a Realtor in California and New York and blog contributor for online real estate database Zillow who has been featured on the HGTV television shows "Curb Appeal," "Bang for Your Buck" and "My House is Worth What?"

"They are nice to have because they show really well and will lure buyers in," he explains. "But when buyers are assessing pros and cons of the home or comparing it to other homes, the upkeep — or safety, in the case of the pool — will factor in. Some people just may not want to sign up for having to do landscaping or pay the landscaper. So while a swimming pool or beautiful manicured lawn might reel in potential buyers, eventually those things could turn them off. Gardening and over-the-top landscaping is for a very specific buyer."

There are always exceptions to be had if the right buyer comes along. A pool in warm-weather Arizona or Southern California is certainly more attractive than one at a home in Maine where it gets only a fraction of the annual use.
Jacuzzis and whirlpools are other luxuries that can be a hit or a miss for sellers. A young couple may love the additions; a family with small children may see them as a waste of space and potential hazard.
Be careful when converting rooms

Renovating your basement, attic or garage into an additional room? That man cave or spare bedroom may fit your lifestyle, but buyers may lament the lack of storage space and place to park their car. A basement or dormer apartment may run contrary to local zoning and be a red flag during a home inspection. Converting a bedroom into an office may appeal to a work-at-home buyer, but eliminating that bedroom in the eyes of local assessors will decrease your home's value.

Taylor Swift has won yet another award--an unofficial one, that is, but one of the best in her collection--the "sweetest singer around" prize. Swift showed off her heart of gold on Friday night when she debuted a new song at the Stand Up To Cancer telethon that she wrote especially for a tiny patient who lost his battle with the disease.

"Ronan" is Swift's tribute to a preschool-aged boy who died from Stage 4 neuroblastoma last year. She wrote the affecting ballad with the help of Ronan's mom, Maya Thompson, who kept a blogabout her son's fight to live, as well as detailing how Swift's music helped her through the pain of losing him.

Women’s 8 Biggest Eating Mistakes

As you're racing from one chore to the next, it's easy to skimp on certain nutrients and overdose on others. The good news: "There's no food or dietary component that you have to eliminate from ahealthy diet," says Rachel Begun, MS, RD, a spokesperson for the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. "But you have to plan a little." Here are women's most common nutrition mistakes and how to fix them.
You eat too much sodium

The recommended daily allowance for sodium is 2,300 mg. But if you're over 50 years old, have high blood pressure, diabetes or kidney disease or are African American, your sodium intake shouldn't go above 1,500 mg per day. Unfortunately, the average American consumes about 3,300 mg daily, according to the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). "Most of our daily sodium comes from restaurant meals and processed foods, not the salt shaker on your table," says Begun.

The fix: Eat more fresh foods or prepare more foods at home, where you control how much salt goes in. Reduce your consumption of packaged foods. Watch for sodium in condiments too. Even low-sodium soy sauce has a whopping 533 mg per tablespoon. Dine at restaurants that cook to order, so you can ask chefs to prepare items without salt and serve sauces on the side.

Every man - like every woman - is different, but this may explain what's going on next time you find him analyzing his fantasy team like his life depends on it. Not included: why he's taking so long in the bathroom. After all, some things should remain mysteries.
Husbands need to feel needed

"For husbands, not being able to impress your wife from time to time is like Kryptonite for Superman," says Lois Barth, a relationship and career coach based in New York City. "Just think of the movies most men love to watch: lone hero in the town against the bad guys saving the day. That hero chip is hardwired into most men - as long as we let them be." Don't rush to do the jobs you dread just to tick another item off on your to-do list - asking for help can bring you closer.

Husbands show their love through actions rather than words

Men aren't as direct in expressing their love as women, and they aren't mind readers. They want to know what women like and then give it to them. The more directly you tell him what you crave ("It makes me happy when you surprise me with dinner") the more likely you are to get it. And when he does show you a bit of what you're looking for, such as bringing you flowers, making a big deal out of it will help pave the way for repeat behavior in the future. Sure, woman appreciate romantic gestures, but being there when you need him - whether that's when your car breaks down or your aunt passes away - sometimes says more than blatant declarations of love. After all, a sweet-talking romantic is great, but a husband who doesn't bail in an emergency is even better.

Yangtze River Turns Red and Turns Up a Mystery

For a river known as the "golden watercourse," red is a strange color to see.
Yet that's the shade turning up in the Yangtze River and officials have no idea why.
The red began appearing in the Yangtze, the longest and largest river in China and the third longest river in the world, yesterday near the city of Chongquing, where the Yangtze connects to the Jialin River.
The Yangtze, called "golden" because of the heavy rainfall it receives year-round, runs throughChongqingSouthwest China's largest industrial and commercial center, also known as the "mountain city" because of the hills and peaks upon which its many buildings and factories stand.
The red color stopped some residents in their tracks. They put water from the river in bottles to save it. Fishermen and other workers who rely on the river for income kept going about their business,
